Our Story
Formed in 2004, the East Durham Artists' Network (EDAN) is voluntary group of East Durham professional and amateur artists working in a wide variety of media.
We’re enthusiastic about developing and sharing our skills and practices as well as hosting exhibitions.
The Building
The building had something of an inauspicious start as a toilet block which was closed down when the nearby shopping centre opened.
EDAN moved into the current building in 2011 and volunteers worked hard to convert it into an art space.
The Gallery
The gallery is open
Tuesday to Saturday
11:00 – 15:00
Free exhibitions are held thoughout the year in a range of subjects agreed by EDAN members
The EDAN gallery is also used by our members for skills sharing and other art-related activities.
External Exhibitions
EDAN works with external agencies and members have exhibited their work regionally, nationally and internationally.
International exhibitions have been held in South Korea, Thailand, Australia and Gerlingen in Germany, Seaham’s twin town, as well as in the Brussels’ Headquarters of the European Parliament.
