The original acrylic painting upon which the embroidery is worked, was an abstract image that I shaped as a narrative of a storm at sea with various sea creature under the waves, a brightly coloured boat with tiny sails being tossed by the elements and a tiny lifeboat attempting rescue.In saving lives, lifeboats also save the hopes and dreams of those they rescue and the bright colours represent the optimism of those who risk their lives in unsuitable vessels in hope of a better life.
