What the Spirit Sees

What the Spirit Sees
Jean Spence
£90.00

This photograph was taken in the early morning light on Seaham’s north beach when the tide was out. The image of a tree is an illusion of the light on the furrows made in the sand by the sea. An eye seems to look upon the scene from the top middle right and sees it not as a human would. There are moments when I am photographing the natural world that I forget my everyday senses and the images that are produced seem to reflect another spirit world. Not everything is done with the eye!
This photograph demonstrates the ways in which light can change our perceptions of what is real and what is not and makes us question the relationship between knowing and seeing.
