Pull of the moon
Jean Spence
£80
This is a hand-pressed, variable lino print – each of the 3 printed differs in colour.
The composition is based on two ideas. Firstly, the new life growing from seeds beneath the fallen tree indicate the continuous process of regeneration and the timelessness of life. This is reflected in the rhythm of the moon which continues endlessly through its monthly cycle. Secondly, as most gardeners are aware, it is best to plant when the moon is waxing as plants and seeds respond to the pull of the moon as much as they do to the seasons of the sun. So the moon is part of the life-force of all living things
