Full Moon 2

Full Moon 2
Nasim Akhtar
£35.00

This artwork draws inspiration from the classic Bollywood song "Chaudhvin Ka Chand" (The Full Moon), an iconic track from the 1960 film of the same name, sung by Mohammed Rafi. The song is well-known for its evocative imagery of the full moon, which has resonated with audiences across generations in the Indian subcontinent. I first encountered the film years after its release as a teenager, and the visual of the silvery moon against a black sky stood out to me for its striking simplicity and contrast.
In this piece, the moon fills most of the space, rendered in a silvery glow that contrasts sharply with the textured jet-black background. The minimalism of the composition highlights the moon's presence, drawing attention to its form and light, much like how the song depicts the moon as a symbol of beauty.
